ENABLES STUDENTS TO FIND OCCUPATIONS OF INTEREST


Designed For

Students seeking to learn more about a variety of occupations in 1 or more of the 9 agriculture career pathways


Anticipated Outcome

15 occupations and employers of Interest including the selection of  career-related agrisciences of interest


Activity Module 1.1 

Career Exploration Challenge

  • Student selects 1 of 3 career tracks in consultation with program advisor.
  • Thereafter, a weekly agexplorer exploration session is scheduled and designed by program advisor to produce a verbal report. 
  • Each session identifies a new occupation of interest. 
  • Support is provided by Bell as needed.
  • Coaching as needed is provided by program advisor
  • Weekly, there is an opportunity to win a weekly cash prize. 
  • Opportunity to win an end-of-year cash prize and trophy

   

Activity Module 1.2 

Agriscience Career Plan Competition

  • Student selects 1 of 3 career tracks in consultation with program advisor
  • Thereafter, a weekly agcareers exploration session is scheduled to produce a verbal report
  • Each session is designed by program advisor to produce new employer of interest
  • Support is provided by Bell as needed
  • Coaching as needed is provided by the program advisor
  • Opportunity to win end-of-year cash prize and trophy

Agriscience Research Project Competition

  • Student selects full college career track in consultation with program advisor.
  • Student selects a research project.
  • Thereafter, a weekly research session is scheduled and designed by the program advisor to demonstrate progress toward completing the research project. 
  • Coaching as needed is provided by the program advisor
  • Opportunity to win end-of-year cash prize and trophy

Students seeking to connect occupations in career pathways to food production and related farm technologies while generating income based on hands-on experience

Activity Module 2.1  

Drone Technology Challenge 


  • Weekly work sessions are scheduled and supervised by program advisor for each student to build a drone that flies. 
  • Each student builds a mini-drone. 
  • When ready, each student conducts a flying demonstration to prove that his or her drone can fly. 
  • Each student then creates an online drone-building course and creates a business model to sell this course to high school students Opportunity to win the end-of-year drone technology challenge cash prize and trophy.


Activity Module 2.2 

Urban Farm Project Team Competition


  • Urban farm project teams of 2 are formed to learn about technologies related to high tunnel farming, and occupations related to the production of high tunnel kits.
  • Program Advisor obtains a high tunnel grant from NRCS and creates an urban farm using high tunnels constructed on the Bell farm via a landlease
  • A weekly work session is scheduled by program advisor in consultation with NRCS
  • Each team goes on a field trip to a high tunnel farm
  • Each team then designs an urban farm project to implement 
  • Each team implements the project it has designed 
  • Weekly work sessions are planned, scheduled and supervised by the program advisor who operates the urban farm
  • Opportunity to win the Urban Farm Project Team of the Year cash prize and trophy

Greenhouse Garden Team Competition


  • Program Advisor goes to the farmraise.com website to subscribe for information about USDA grant programs.

PRODUCES SCHOLARSHIP MONEY THAT HELPS STUDENTS PAY COLLEGE AND CERTIFICATION COSTS.

Anticipated Outcome

A Fund For For College Success

 

Activity Module 3.1 

Agriscience Scholarship Fund Challenge For University of Arkansas, Fayetteville (For students with pathways of interest and degree programs identified) 


  • Each student invests 1 hour per week to create a college plan plus display for U of A, Fayetteville.
  • Each student sets a scholarship fundraising goal pf $1,000 for Bumpers College at the University of Arkansas.
  • Bell matches it when that student's goal is achieved. 
  • When the combined total reaches $5000, the scholarship fund is established and a  scholarship fund advisory committee is appointed by Bell for the chapter.


Activity Module 3.2

Agriscience Scholarship Solicitation Challenge For University of Arkansas, Pine Bluff


  •  Each student in vests 1 hour per week to create a college plan plus display for U of A, Pine Bluff.
  • Each student sets a scholarship fundraising goal of $500 for the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff to fund this plan. 
  • Bell matches this goal when it  is achieved.  


Activity Module 3.3 

Community College Scholarship Pledge Competition (For students with pathways of interest and certifications identified)

 

  • Each student invests 1 hour a week to create a community college plan with display for specific certifications relative to agricutural pathways of interest. 
  • Each student sets a fundraising goal for the year to fund his or her plan.  
  • Bell matches it when that student's goal is achieved. 
  • Program Advisor provides ongoing support.
